GOVERNOR LALONG BREAKS 33 -YEAR TRADITIONAL STOOL JINX; INSTALLS 2 2ND CLASS RULERS IN QUA'AN PAN & VISITS BURNT NAMU YAM MARKET. After about 33 years without a substantive traditional ruler, the people of Kwo Chiefdom in Qua'an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State now have a traditional head. Similarly, the people of Namu Chiefdom of the same Local Government now have a traditional ruler after about 15 years without one.  This follows the installation and presentation of staffs of office to His Royal Highness, Miskoom Fidelis Longtoe Attahiru as the 27th Long Kwo (2nd class ruler of Kwo Chiefdom) and His Royal Highness Safiyanu Allahnana Magaji III, (Long Jan of Namu Chiefdom). GOVERNOR LALONG APPOINTS NEW HEAD OF SERVICE/PERMANENT SECRETARIES. Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has approved the appointment of Engr. Sunday Chong Hyat as the new Head of Service for the State.  This follows the retirement of the Head of Service, Mr. Izam Azi, mni, having attained the mandatory age of 60. The new Head of Service Engr. Hyat was until his appointment, the Permanent Secretary, General Administration in the office of the Head of Service.  Engr. Sunday Chong Hyat, mni, was born on 3rd February 1963, in Ganawuri, Riyom Local Government Area. He attended Boys Secondary School Gindiri before proceeding to the Federal University of Technology Minna where he graduated with B. Eng. Civil Engineering. HOR APPROVE ESTABLISHMENT OF JOS ORTHOPAEDIC HOSPITAL, WASE FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE The House of Representatives Wednesday unanimously passed into law two bills for the establishment of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Jos and Federal Medical Centre, Wase all in Plateau state. This was sequel to the adoption of the report of the House committee on health institutions considered in the committee of the whole at the plenary. The Bill's are; a bill for the establishment of Federal Medical Centre, Wase and a bill to amend the Orthopaedic Hospitals Management Board Laws to provide for the establishment of Orthopaedic Hospital in Jos. The two bills were sponsored by the  Deputy Speaker, and will now be forwarded ro the senate for concurrence preparatory for onward transmission to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent. NTDC TO PARTNER PLATEAU STATE ON TOURISM The Director General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) Mr. Folorunsho Coker has assured the Plateau State Government that his agency will work with the State in harnessing the abundant tourist potentials in the State.   The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on Monday said that nearly one-third of Nigerian children lack access to enough water. In a statement marking World Water Day, UNICEF said more than 1.42 billion people including 450 million children are living in areas of high or extremely high water vulnerability in the world. “The world’s water crisis is not coming – it is here, and children are its biggest victims,” said Peter Hawkins, UNICEF Representative in Nigeria. “When wells dry up, children are the ones missing school to fetch water. When droughts diminish food supplies, children suffer from malnutrition and stunting. When floods hit, children fall ill from waterborne illnesses. RELIGIOUS CLASH IN KWARA STATE AS STUDENT IS DISALLOWED INTO SCHOOL FOR WEARING A HIJAB A group under the aegis of Congress of Northern Nigeria Christians (CNNC), has condemned the crisis that rocked Kwara State on Wednesday following the hijab controversies that ensued in the State few weeks ago. Recall that the government-funded Christian schools had repeatedly been shut down over a dispute in the usage of hijab by Muslim students. Following the controversies, Christians and Muslims clashed in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on March 17, after the State government reopened 10 Christian Schools which were initially shut down over the hijab saga. US AMBASSADOR MARY BETH VISITS PLATEAU STATE.
