In marching words with action,the leadership of National Association of Rigwe Students (NARS) on Saturday March 20,2021 distributed uniforms and writing materials to some indigent pupils within Rigwe nation.
According to the immediate past president of the association, Comrade Herbert John Azi said this is in fulfilment of one of the pledges he was mandated to achieve while in office.
He said to bring this to bear, they launched a campaign tagged 'OPERATION SEND A CHILD TO SCHOOL'an operation aimed at restoring the lost glory and revamping the hope of those children who have become victims of several attacks of fulani militias and have been placed under a DISPLACED condition.
This received a wider acceptance from well meaning individuals and corporate organizations and during the NARS Day 2021, people from different walks of life conglomerated at LEA Primary School Chinye, Miango to officially flag off the program.
A total of seventy two (72) uniforms sewn and distributed to the beneficiaries which comprised of 12 pupils each of the following primary schools; Kitago, Kpamru, Dantanko, Chinye,Te'egbe and ECWA Transferred Pilot School Kpachudu.
Comrade Azi thanked those who supported the project to come to reality and also encouraged others who have not to do so as doors are still open in order to give a great future to the displaced persons and downtrodden.
"I'm happy and fulfilled that this initiative has seen the light of the day and this wouldn't have been without many,may God bless all that lay their hands to this"- He added
The beneficiaries and representatives of the aforementioned schools while receiving the materials expressed total gratitude to the NARS leadership for the exemplary gesture and promised to judiciously utilized all that have been given.
The exercise came to a climax with group photographs and ecstatic dancing from the pupils.
