NMA SHOWS RELATED CONCERNS ON NATIONAL ORTHOPAEDIC HOSPITAL, JOS & FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE, WASE

NMA PLATEAU STORMS NATIONAL ASSEMBLY.
The Chairman,Nigerian Medical Association,Plateau State Branch- 
Dr Innocent Emmanuel,led a powerful delegation to the House of Representatives,
National Assembly, Abuja, yesterday, Wednesday,March,10th,2021
to attend a Public Hearing into two health related bills for the establishment of
National Orthopaedic Hospital,Jos
& Federal Medical Centre,Wase
respectively [sponsored by the Deputy Speaker, Federal House of Representatives and member representing Wase Federal Constituency-
The Rt Hon. Idris Ahmed Wase,which was organised by the House Committee on Health Institutions.
The delegation from Plateau had notable and respected personalities including the Permanent Secretary, Plateau State Ministry of Health -
Dr Azzuuwut M.P,
the Director of Medical Services,Plateau State Ministry of Health Dr Audu Samuel ,Director of  Research and Planning of the Ministry, Hon Nankpah Dashe, the Chief Medical Director(CMD) of the Jos University Teaching Hospital- Prof Banwat Edmund,the CMD Plateau State Specialist Hospital- Dr Filimon Golwa,
The Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Primary Health Care Board- Dr Livinus Miapkwap,the Executive Chairman,Wase Local Government Area- Dr Ado Ibrahim,the Principal Private Secretary to the NMA President (who is also the Chairman,NMA Plateau Committee on Medical Legislation) -Dr Christopher Piwuna,
the Chairman,Plateau Indigenous Doctors' Forum(PIDCF)-Dr Njem Miner,the Immediate Past Chairman,NMA Plateau - Dr Dajel Titus,
the General Secretary, NMA Plateau- 
Dr Bapigaan Audu William,the Financial Secretary -Dr Mashor Mbwas as well as medical students from the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital.

NMA Plateau made her submission to the House Committee in support of the establishment of these tertiary health facilities in the state, which will go a long way in improving the health services available on the Plateau,as well as providing same to fellow citizens in other states with close proximity to Plateau.

At the hearing,the
Plateau Initiative for  Development and Advancement of the Natives (PIDAN) also
made her submission in favour of the establishment of the proposed health facilities.

NMA Plateau wishes to express her unreserved gratitude to the NMA President- Prof IAO Ujah,mni & the National Officers' Committee,
the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives,the Chairman & members of the House Committee on Health Institutions,
the Executive Chairman,Wase Local Government,Medical elders, Plateau Indigenous Doctors Forum,other professional bodies, and indeed all NMA members for the display of solidarity and support for the good,loving and accommodating people of Plateau State towards the establishment of these institutions for the service of humanity as well as the overall improvement of health indices in our dear nation.
