HOR PASSES TWO BILLS TO LAW - ORTHOPAEDIC HOSPITAL JOS & WASE FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE.

HOR APPROVE ESTABLISHMENT OF JOS ORTHOPAEDIC HOSPITAL, WASE FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE

The House of Representatives Wednesday unanimously passed into law two bills for the establishment of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Jos and Federal Medical Centre, Wase all in Plateau state.

This was sequel to the adoption of the report of the House committee on health institutions considered in the committee of the whole at the plenary.

The Bill's are; a bill for the establishment of Federal Medical Centre, Wase and a bill to amend the Orthopaedic Hospitals Management Board Laws to provide for the establishment of Orthopaedic Hospital in Jos.

The two bills were sponsored by the  Deputy Speaker, and will now be forwarded ro the senate for concurrence preparatory for onward transmission to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent.

Recall that the Deputy Speaker had during the public hearing on the bills explained that he initiated the bills for the establishment of the medical centre and the Orthopaedic hospital to bring quality medical care closer to the people of Plateau state and the entire neighbouring states of Taraba, Bauchi Gombe and Nasarawa states.

He said treatment of Orthopaedic condition is generally very expensive hence people resort to patronising traditional bone setters, which always result in complications.

Wase lamented that people of the those states particularly those living in remote villages have difficulty is accessing tertiary health services due to economic, transportation and geographic barriers. 

He said there is currently no public Orthopaedic hospital in the north central and Jos being th gate way between south east, south south, south west, north central and north east is prone to high rate of raid traffic accidents resulting to serious injuries and fractures.
