THE 'FOSIECON' CONFERENCE, A CALL TO STRENGTH GRASSROOT DEMOCRACY. By Justin Jattim Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, has seen the start of the 13th Forum of State Independent Electoral Commission (FOSIECON) National Delegates Conference. The conference brings together electoral stakeholders from across the country to deliberate on strengthening grassroots democracy and electoral reforms. FOSIECON Chairman Chief Barrister Jossy Chibundu outlined the difficulties SIECs face, such as a lack of funding independence, political meddling, administrative limitations, and public misperception. Key ministries gave presentations at the event, which took place on May 21, 2025, at the Ministry of Information and Communication's conference hall at the JD Gomwalk Secretariat in Jos. Ministry of Works: Development and construction of roads and buildings have advanced significantly under the Ministry of Works. By Asile Abel Jos  The Chief of Field Office, UNICEF Bauchi Field Office Dr. Nuzhat Rafique has inspect the cholera treatment centre in Bokkos local government area of Plateau assuring of their support in ending the raising cases of cholera in the state. She said collaborative efforts is key in addressing the outbreak to further stop mortality especially children mortality going forward. Rafique stated this during her visit to Bokkos local government area of Plateau State to assessed the treatment condition of the health facility as well as to compliment the efforts of other organisations who are in ground trying to control the outbreak from spreading.
