Governor Mutfwang's Two-Year Scorecard: Highlights of the Ministry of Lands & Survey, Head of Service, and Transport

On May 29, 2025, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang will celebrate two years in office. On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, the Plateau State Government hosted a ministerial press briefing at the Ministry of Information's Conference Hall, JD Gomwalk Secretariat, Jos, as part of its efforts to show its dedication to openness and accountability.
The briefing focused on the government's accomplishments and future intentions in a number of areas, such as lands and survey, transportation, commerce & industry, and civil service.
In her welcoming remarks, the Honorable Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, mni, reaffirmed, "We are happy to have you here today."
By facilitating information access and encouraging an accountable culture in public services, this activity helps close the gap between the people and the government.
Mr. Stephen Pam Gadong, the head of the Plateau State Civil Service, gave a presentation on the accomplishments of the civil service sector, including: - Paying all unpaid wage arrears to government personnel - Resolving pension and gratuity arrears that date back to 1986 Promotions for worthy civil servants are put into effect.
Under the direction of Commissioner Hon. Muhammad Nyalum, the Plateau State Ministry of Commerce and Industry has advanced the growth of industry and commerce: Establishing a favorable business climate that encourages trade and the establishment of industries; registering and overseeing cooperative groups to foster economic expansion Small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) can receive training on trade and market legislation as well as investment programs.
Under the direction of Commissioner Hon. Jatau Gyang Davou, the Plateau State Ministry of Transportation has accomplished a number of significant milestones: ValueJet airline has been contracted to run the routes from Lagos to Jos-Lagos and Jos-Abuja-Jos. A Memorandum of Understanding to start train service between Jos and Bukuru Metropolis was signed with the Nigerian Railway Corporation. Tricycle mapping and digital automation are being introduced to improve security and revenue collection.
The organization has already introduced 15 opulent, diesel-powered Metro Buses, and it intends to add another 15 buses with safety measures and intelligent payment systems. Long-distance trucks have also been renovated by the government, boosting income and enhancing services. Programs for corporate social responsibility and community involvement, such as the Jos Food Festival, ATCON Tourism Conference, and Amazon Waka Road Walk, have been funded by the Ministry of Transportation through the Plateau Express Services Group.
Under the direction of Commissioner Barr. Nyam Peter, the Plateau State Ministry of Lands and Survey has made strides in revenue generation and land administration, including: establishing a revenue-generating committee to find new revenue streams; implementing the Land Use Charge for easier compliance; and streamlining the certificate of occupancy process with more secure certificates.

The goals of the government's accomplishments and future initiatives are to enhance the quality of life for Plateau State residents and encourage the state's economic growth. The administration is attempting to provide a safe haven and a stronghold of security while allocating resources for physical development, all while concentrating on providing the benefits of democracy.
The meeting was deferred so that six more Ministries may continue today.
