Lalong Constitutes 7-Man Committee to Address PLASU Staff Welfare   The Plateau State Government has announced the composition of a 7-man committee to negotiate the welfare of academic and non-teaching staff of Plateau State University, Bokkos. The announcement was contained in a letter dated January, 17th 2021 and signed by the Secretary to the Government of the state, Professor Danladi Abok Atu and made available to newsmen.  The committee has three (3) weeks within which to submit its report to the state government. The committee's terms of reference is to address the issues raised by the academic and non-teaching and other issues raised by the staff unions of the University .  The committee has the State Head of Service, Mr. Izam A. Azi mni as Chairman and Mr. Isaac Maran, Permanent Secretary,  Establishment, Office of the Head of Service as Secretary. GOVERNOR LALONG MEETS FRENCH AMBASSADOR, DISCUSSES INVESTMENT IN MINERAL DEVELOPMENT, AGRICULTURE AND EDUCATION  Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong was at the Embassy of France to Nigeria in Abuja on Tuesday 19th January 2021 to hold discussions with the Ambassador Jérôme Pasquier on the development of the mineral sector in Plateau State and other areas of investment.  Governor Lalong who was accompanied by the Commissioner for Mineral Development Jude Elias Dakur said he was at the French embassy to discuss the economic potentials of the State and explore areas of collaboration for investment and exchanges that will benefit people on both sides. He said "Plateau State is famous for a variety of minerals which gave our State the name “Tin City” during the colonial days. PPA MOURNS JIMMY CHETO It is with deep shock and sorrow that members of Plateau Publishers Association (PPA), received the sad news of the passing away of Engineer Jimmy Cheto to the great beyond.  Chairman of the association, Shabul Mazadu, said Jimmy Cheto while he was alive has paid his dues at both the state and federal civil service leaving indelible footprints worthy of emulation. In Plateau Civil service Cheto was a former General Manager of Plateau State Water Board. And at the federal, he was Director City Infrastructure of the Federal Capital Territory Development Authority.  In the political scene Mazadu added, Cheto was an active politician having contested the governorship of Plateau State twice on different political platforms; Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party.  Mazadu said Cheto's demise is a great loss to the Taroh nation, Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole, as his wealth of experience as an engineer and politician will be great missed. ZULUM ORDERS EMPLOYMENT OF 40 MORE DOCTORS FOR BORNO HOSPITALS

APPROVED NEW LAND FOR EXPANSION OF SPECIALIST HOSPITAL    Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum on Tuesday gave an order for the recruitment of 40 medical doctors as addition to his previous approvals, in order to meet health care needs of the state’s increasing population.  Tuesday’s decision is coming four months after the Governor had approved the recruitment of 594 health workers, among them, 86 medical doctors, 365 nurses and midwives, 45 pharmacists and 100 health technicians and other supportive staff.   Zulum announced his latest approval for 40 doctors after Tuesday’s meeting with the chief executives of seven public hospitals and related institutions located in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and Jere Local Government Area.
