PLATEAU STATE UNIVERSITY BEGINS CONSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDENT IN COMPLIANCE TO COVID 19

PLASU HANDS OVER SITES FOR CONSTRUCTION OF ADDITIONAL LECTURE & OFFICE BLOCKS
The management of Plateau State University, Bokkos, in its quest to provide adequate lecture halls for students of the institution in compliance with Covid-9 social distancing measure against the spread of the virus has handed over sites for the constructions of General Studies, Laboratory/Studio for the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Academic Planning blocks to different contractors.

The contracts are TETFund 2017/2018/2019 merged annual interventions which were awarded to Humble Rock Limited and Mibelle contractions firms and is expected to be completed within 30 weeks from the day of the Ground-Breaking ceremony.
Performing the Ground-Breaking ceremony, the Vice-Chanccellor, Professor Yohanna D. Izam Charged the contractors to ensure timely completion and quality jobas as contained in the agreement documents, stressing the University will not accept any sub-standard job and will not pay variation in case of delay in the execution of the contracts.
He said the projects are significant to the to the growth and development of the University, particularly now that the world is facing global challenge posed by Covid-19 pandemic which health experts suggested social distancing as one of the safety measures against the sopread of the virus; hence the need to provide adequate structures to enable the students adhere to the social distancing measure.

The Vice_-Chancellor appreciate the host communities for partnering with the management of the institution towards the growth and development of the University.
Responding on behalf of the constructions and consulting firms, Engineer Peter Amuta and Architect Danbaba Danyaro assured the management of their readiness to adhere to contrat specifications and timely delivery of the jobs.
On his part, the Saf Butura, Dr. John Gabriel Mallo who ws represented by Barrister Alfred Makwin, applauded the management of the institution for transforming the University into a world class University within a short period of time saying the surrounding communities are equally feeling the impact of the transformation going on in the university. He also appealed to the contractors to engage both skills and unskilled youth of the communities during the construction period.

Meanwhile, the Youth Leader of Chikam Community, Mr. Mahanan Mabur eulogises the Vice-Chancellor and his management team for thr giant strides being recorded in the university and solicited for sustained dialogue between the communities and University management.
