QUA’AN-PAN COUNCIL CHAIRMAN LAUDS BENEFACTORS OF SMC PROGRAM, PHC DEPARTMENT


The Executive Chairman of Qua’an-Pan Local Government Council, LGC, Hon. Ernest Abner Da’a, has commended all who have contributed towards the sustainability of the Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) programme, describing it as one of the most effective  interventions was of prevention of malaria in  most vulnerable areas.

Hon. Da’a, who made the commendation while declaring open a 3-Day Train -the-Trainers sessions, in preparation for the implementation of the 2022 Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention, SMC, vaccination exercise in the locality, also extoled the Primary Health Care (PHC) Department for effective service delivery.


“We appreciate the Federal Ministry of Health, the State Ministry of Health and the Local Government Health Department, as well as other donor agencies who have made contributions towards ensuring the sustainability of the SMC vaccination programme.”

“We thank you the implementers, without you the job wouldn’t be possible. So, it is indeed heart warming to see all of you gathered for the Train-the-Trainers, believing that the knowledge will be well articulated and the implementation will be done to the later,” he added.


Da’a, commended the staff of PHC Qua’an-Pan Local Government for always ranking first in most of the health intervention programmes and other services in the State; saying, “the Council has dedicated that to the committed and dedicated Staff of PHC department," stressing that based on his personal assessment of their performance, he holds the department in high esteem.

The Executive Chairman further tasked the personnel, to continue to do justice to the programme, emphasizing that because ‘health is wealth,’ especially the health of children, who he said are more vulnerable, is very important.


While praying God to reward the Staff for their sacrifices to humanity, the Council Boss pledged to support the training with entertainment.

Earlier, the Director PHC, who was ushered to the podium by the Supervisory Councilor for Health, Hon. Jonas Dasok Koplang, explained that the Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC), is a highly effective intervention to prevent malaria in those most vulnerable to the effects of the disease.


He said the exercise involves the monthly administering of doses of antimalarial drugs to children aged 3-59 months during peak malaria transmission season.


At the event, which was attended by the Directors and Staff, the Chairman’s entourage included his deputy, Hon. Helen Henniet Wapmuk, Secretary to the Council, Hon. Gideon Godenaan Dashe,  Supervisory Councilors, among other appointees.
