His Excellency, Rt. Hon.Barr. Simon Bako Lalong at the New Government House Little Rayfield Jos, 13th of June, 2023 Sworn in five Judges.
His Excellency stated that their appointments were based on merit, recognizing and exhibiting tremendous services in the State and Nigeria as a whole.
His Excellency going by his speech attributed antecedence judging by their character. He is confident without any doubt that they will level up every standard of the Judiciary for enhanced better democracy, good governance, and the rule of law.
Gov. Simon B. Lalong calling to the Judges to accord diligence in duty giving that a Judicial Officer has a privilege of decision making with concerns to Life or Death situations. The Governor further expressed on “duty” as a public trust mandated to its representative by God to represent in place others, endeavor to stick by the Oath of Office while discharging your duties with the fear of God and without fear, favor, affection, or ill-will. Failure to do so will not only erode your integrity but also put the entire society on the path of chaos and anarchy. When people cannot get justice, they may be forced to resort to self-help and other unconventional means to resolve issues. This will not augur well for the well-being of the society”.
Barr. Dr. Simon B. Lalong graced the occasion with reassurance and commitment to the Judiciary of his Support, that of the Executive Arm of Government & the Legislative towards functional operation in a conducive environment given sightings from the new High Court Headquarters complex which is at the furnishing stage will soon be commissioned as well as the Multi-Door Courthouse which has also been completed.
While giving his final speech, the governor advised the judges saying, i know you have the capacity to resist attempts to corruption, confusion, intimidation or blackmails of any unethical conduct. Stay focused on the path you have taken and discharge your duties according to the laws of the land and the dictates of the legal profession”.
The five Judges sworn in are;
- Hon. Justice Ladi Agyer Madaki,
- Hon. Justice Elizabeth Angai,
- Hon. Justice Longden Jacob Danladi,
- 4. Hon. Justice Dasplang Samchi and
- 5.Khadi Yahaya Mohammed Kanam of the Sharia Court of Appeal.
Responding on behalf of the Judges, Hon. Justice Ladi Madaki said they will do their best to serve with equity, fairness, and justice. She concluded by given full assurance to abide by the oath and in accordance to the will of God.
