FG WARNS AGAINST RESUMPTION OF SCHOOLS.

The Federal Government has warned against resumption of any school at any level, saying all schools remained closed. Acting on the government’s directive, National Universities Commission, NUC, has warned vice chancellors against reopening universities for any activities. The government, in a circular dated Friday, May 8, 2020, to heads of commissions and regulatory bodies in the education sector, insisted that schools at all levels were still closed, asking them to ignore fake news in the social media that it had directed resumption of schools. The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC), has confirmed 386 new COVID-19 cases in the country, taking Nigeria’s total cases to 3,912. This is the highest number of new cases recorded in a day. COVID 19 CASE INCREASES AS PLATEAU STATE ADDS UP A NUMBER.

Nigeria has recorded 381 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 3,526. PRESS STATEMENT  PLATEAU STATE COVID-19 LOCKDOWN RELAXATION: A REMINDER Further to the Statewide broadcast by Plateau State Governor Rt. Hon. (Dr) Simon Bako Lalong where he announced the pattern for the total lockdown of the State and its relaxation in the fight against COVID-19, it is important to reiterate the following.  1. That the total lockdown shall be relaxed Midnight of every Thursday till Sunday midnight when it will resume. This pattern will apply until further review.  2. That inter-Local Government movement is restricted except for people on essential services.  3. All borders into the State shall remain closed except for essential services that have been exempted.  4. That the curfew announced by the Federal Government from 8pm to 6am will be in force during the period when the total lockdown is relaxed. 5. The general public and the security personnel currently enforcing the COVID-19 Lockdown Order in Plateau State are being informed that the official PASS currently in use is hereby withdrawn with effect from Thursday, 7th May, 2020. In its place, a new Pass has been introduced with a validity period. Equally, any Pass issued by Local Government Councils are hereby revoked and henceforth ALL must be issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the State. Any one caught using the old Pass would be prosecuted. However, those on essential services are encouraged to continue to use their organizations identification cards for passage. 170 NEW CASES ACROSS NIGERIA

TWO NEW COVID 19 CASES IN PLATEAU STATE.

The Nigerian Center for Disease Control has confirmed 220 new cases of COVID-19, bringing total cases in the country to 2388. Two of the cases are from Plateau State, which brings total cases in the State to three. The first case in the State was confirmed on April 23, 2020 of a Kano returning traveler, currently on treatment. Details of the two new cases have yet to be released but sources say a man with severe symptoms of the disease was admitted in the same ward with the index case on Monday. He is thought to also be a returning traveler. No information exists about the second new case yet, but might equally be a returning traveler. The State has witnessed a surge in illegal entries since its first lockdown on April 9, 2020. Many of them are from Lagos which currently has the highest confirmed cases and highest daily cases.
