The Plateau State National and State Assembly Petition Tribunal sitting at the Plateau State High Court complex on  11th and 12th September, 2023 replaced Senator Napoleon Bali of the People’s Democratic Party with Rt Hon Simon Bako Lalong of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Plateau South Senatorial District

In a judgment held by Hon Justice M.B Tukur, Hon Justice Omaka Elewa and Hon O.A Adetujoye it was ruled that the PDP in Plateau State presented all their candidates in disobedience of court orders and lacking strictures, hence you can’t build something on nothing.

In the light of the disobedience of court orders  and lack of structures the Judges replaced Hon Ibrahim Gyedeng of the PDP for Barkin Ladi and Riyom Federal Constituency with Hon Fom Dalyop Chollom (Sanchos) of the Labor Party (LP) ;Hon Alfred Illlya Ajang of the LP replaces Hon Dachung Musa Bagos of the PDP for the Jos South and Jos East Federal Constituency while Hon Vincent Venman Bulus of the APC replaces Hon Beni Butmak Lar of the PDP for the Langtang North and Langtang South Federal Constituency.

The second panel of the National and State House of Assembly Plateau State Election Petition Tribunal headed by the Hon Justice O.A Adetujoye in the suit No.EPT/PL/HR/03/23 between Alfred Iliya Ajang of the LP (Petitioners) against INEC,Dachung Musa Bagos of the PDP nullified the election and return of Hon Dachung Musa Bagos of the PDP and declared Hon Alfred Illya Ajang as the winner of the February 25th,2023 National Assembly elections having scored the second highest valid votes cast thus directs INEC to issue Ajang a fresh Certificate of Return.

Similarly in the suit No.EPT/PL/HR/04/23 between Vincent Venman Bulus of the APC (Petitioners) versus INEC, Beni Lar and the PDP(Respondents), the tribunal nullified the election of Hon Beni Butmak Lar and declared Hon Vincent Venman Bulus of the APC winner in a judgment read by Hon Justice Bello Mohammed Tukur in defiance of court orders compelling the party to conduct Ward, LGA and State Congresses.

While the APC and the LP are congratulating their winners in the tribunal, the PDP is preparing for appeal as stated in a press briefing by the party at the PDP State Secretariat.

By Justin Jattim  A non-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment, education, and economic upliftment of vulnerable women and youth impacted by banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency in Nigeria, the Scarlet Cord Initiative, has extended its work to Gumel in Kachia, southern Kaduna. There, it held a two-day holistic empowerment programme for about 100 traumatized women. The programme included skills training, mentorship, trauma psycho-support, and advocacy. The event, which took place in a vibrant hall in Gora, began with a simple ball of yarn passed from hand to hand, weaving a visible web of connection among the 100 selected widows. These women shared the experience of losing their husbands to violent attacks. This was not a craft lesson, but the opening act of a profound tra...
