QUA’AN-PAN LGC CALLS FOR EDUCATION SECTOR REFORM

The Executive Chairman Qua’an-Pan LGC Hon Ernest Abner Da’a has on August 9, 2022 advocated for necessary reforms in the education sector, being an area prioritized by the QP Project of his administration.

Hon. Ernest Abner Da’a stated this while hosting a team of Enumerators from the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), Headquarters, Abuja who have completed an official assignment in Qua’an-Pan LGA.

The Chairman, who spoke through the Deputy Chairman and Supervisory Councilor for Education, Hon. Helen Henniet Wapmuk, who was flanked by the Supervisory Councilor for Health, Hon. Jonas Koplang Dasok; expressed optimism that the enumeration exercise will bear fruits toward the reform of the education sector.

“The Council have been making frantic efforts in augmenting the deliberate policies and programmes of the Federal and State Governments towards eradicating illiteracy and making education worthwhile,” the Chairman said, adding that, “After wide consultation with relevant stakeholders, this administration conducted a Staff Verification Exercise, with the aim of ascertaining the manpower strength for necessary actions. We hope that similar exercise like the enumeration of public and private Primary and Junior Secondary Schools will go a long way in helping Government’s policies in the education sector."

While commending the team for the assignment, the Council wished them well as they return to their place of work.

Speaking on  behalf of the Enumeration Team, Mr. Aremu Sunday disclosed that the assignment is an external audit from UBEB and the State Ministry of Education, stating that out of the 385 schools enlisted, they were able to visit 260 registered and unregistered public and private Primary and Junior Secondary Schools in the locality.

Mr. Aremu further enumerated some challenges encountered to include logistic problems, bad terrain, among others, as reasons why they were unable to reach out to the remaining registered and unregistered schools.

The Team Leader, while thanking the Council, the Local Government Education Authority and other stakeholders for rendering the necessary support towards the success of accomplishing their over one month mission, informed the Council that their report will be submitted to the headquarters for further actions.

The Enumeration Team was  accompanied on the exercise by the Education Secretary Qua’an-Pan LGC, Mr. Danjuma Lamda, the P.M Mrs. Tabitha Wahzi and other heads of sections, including the NUT Chairman, Comr. Sam Nkup.
