HEALTH: PLASCHEMA, MAKING SURE NO ONE IS LEFT OUT

... TASKS JOURNALISTS TO HOLD POLITICIANS ACCOUNTABLE OVER NON REGISTRATION OF CONSTITUENTS ON HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME.

The Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) has organised a one day sensitisation training workshop and engaged the media on the Plateau at a parley to create community sustainability towards aggressive uptake into the State Social Health Insurance Scheme. The event took place at Crest Hotel on Friday 29th April,2022 with over forty Journalists and Publishers in attendance.

In his opening remarks Dr Fabong Jemchang Yildam, the Director General of PLASCHEMA tasked Journalists and Publishers in Plateau State to hold politicians and stakeholders in the State accountable for the non registration of their constituents on the Health Insurance Scheme with PLASCHEMA.


The Director General harped that despite visiting the National Assembly and Plateau State stakeholders across the country for almost one thousand times only Rt. Hon Idris Ahmed Maje,late Simon Harry, the Statistician General of the Federation and the Chief Executive Officer of the National Bureau of Statistics,Dr Patrick Sunday Dakum, the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Human Virology, Abuja-Nigeria,Mr Sunday Biggs, the immediate Permanent Secretary, Government House Jos and a few others have paid the premium for their constituents.



Dr Fabong Jemchang Yildam, the Director General of PLASCHEMA hinted that "It is true that the media plays a critical role towards achieving Universal Health Coverage through providing information (preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative) to people at large. This boost acceptance of any idea and creates interest. 

The Director-General of the Agency appreciates the power of the media in setting the agenda for governance. He also noted that the media have the power to set and direct our attention towards certain issues in society, particularly in the place of feedback. 



It was an interactive session that resulted in creating various platforms to reach the unreached, mostly in the rural communities. The media which was conferred as Ambassadors of Universal Health Coverage on the Plateau pledged to do their bits towards making sure no one is left behind on the Plateau.

They also appreciated His Excellency the Executive Governor of Plateau State, the Rt Hon Dr Simon Bako Lalong KSGG for the initiative in the first place, and for constantly supporting the Agency.The Print, Electronic and Online Publishers on the Plateau were amongst those that attended the very important one event.
