JOS NORTH LGC TO LIAISE  WITH ROTARY INTERNATIONAL TO ERADICATE POLIO.

The Executive Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council Shehu Bala Usman says his administration will collaborate with Rotary International club to sustain the eradication of polio virus and other diseases in the locality.

The Chairman stated this when he received officials of Rotary International  club Seven, District Nine-one-two-five, led by Gloria Thomas in his office at the Council Secretariat in Jos.

The visit of the Rotarians to Jos North Local Government was part of the Rotary International club efforts to present Apron ahead of the forthcoming Saturday Immunization against polio virus in the area.

Usman commended the Rotarians for working tirelessly in assisting government in the campaign to eradicate polio and other diseases in the area.

The Chairman noted that due to the heterogeneous nature of Jos North, his administration has taken  steps to enhance Service  delivery of Primary Health Care centers in the area to ensure smooth, effective and efficient immunization of  children from zero to five years.

This the Chairman said will minimise polio virus in Jos North thereby making the area polio free.

The Chairman used the opportunity and assured personnel of the primary Health Care centers that would be posted to various wards as well as the Rotarians who had registered their commitment to monitor the exercise to ensure their safety in the cause of their duty.

Earlier, Rotarian Gloria Thomas told the Chairman that they were in the Local Government Council to present Apron ahead of Saturday's Immunization exercise.

Thomas commended the commitment of the Shehu Bala led administration for prioritizing peace and security of its citizens.

She  noted that  Rotary International Club would henceforth partner the Council to rid the world of all strains of polio virus, so that children are not affected by polio paralysis.

She used the visit to intimate the Council Chairman that Rotarians will hold events in October this year .

This according to Gloria Thomas would create awareness and raise funds and other support from members for polio eradication.

The visit climaxed with the presentation of Apron to the Council Chairman Shehu Bala Usman

These women shared the experience of losing their husbands to violent attacks. This was not a craft lesson, but the opening act of a profound tra...
