HON. BENI LAR BAGS NASENI’s OUTSTANDING LEGISLATOR AWARD




The Joint Action Congress of National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has bestowed an award of "Outstanding Legislator's Award" on Honourable Beni Lar, member representing Langtang North and Langtang South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly for promoting science development in Nigeria. 


NASENI JAC comparises of Academic Staff Union of Research Institution (ASURI), Non Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Universities Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAI). The JAC had in a letter dated 30th November,2021 and signed by Chairmen of the various Union, Comrade Ayodeji Akinola, Shaver Edward and Joel Tongshaka invited Honourable Beni Lar to the "Appreciation and Award Day". 

According to the letter of invitation to Hon. Lar, the JAC organized the "Appreciation and Award Day" to honour, appreciate and to formally show gratitude Honourable Lar and other prominent Nigerians who contributed to the repositioning NASENI for effective and efficient service delivery in the year 2021. 

It would be recall that, Honourable Lar moved the motion for the establishment and advocated for funding of the agency on the floor of House of Representatives. 

Speaking shortly after receiving her award at the agency's headquarters in Abuja, Honourable Lar thanked the workers for finding her worthy of the award, stressing that the award will spur her to continue to contribute her quota towards the development of science in Nigeria as a lawmaker. 

She challenged scientists, particularly the academics to focus on scientific researches in order to come up with solutions to some of the problems confronting Nigeria in order for the country to catch up with other countries that have advanced ahead of Nigeria scientifically. 

She assured NASENI management and staff of the National Assembly's commitment to ensuring that NASENI is adequate funded through budgeting provision. 

Also, at the "Appreciation and Awards Day", the Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, Prof. Mohammed Haruna, applauded the unions for the initiative to honour those who had contributed to the agency’s development and achievements.

He disclosed that  the award was an indication that the workers are committed to their job and expressed the of the agency's readiness to partner with other agencies to achieve the mandate of establishing NASENI.

The highpoint of the event was the presentation of awards to state governors, lawmakers and other public servants.
