SENATE CONCURS FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION PANKSHIN ESTABLISHMENT BILL, AWAIT PRESIDENTIAL APPROVAL

SENATE CONCURS FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION PANKSHIN ESTABLISHMENT BILL, AWAIT PRESIDENTIAL APPROVAL.

The member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, is making good his promise to ensure that Federal College of Education, Pankshin takes off fully as University of Education before the end of his tenure in 2023.

This heartwarming move has taken a giant leap with the concurrence by the Senate today, of the bill establishing the institution, as earlier passed by the House of Representatives, as sponsored by the lawmaker, who also is an alumni of the institution.

Gagdi had earlier promised to put into play, all his lobbying prowess to ensure the bill receives speedy consideration by the Senate. True to his words, the lawmaker had a meeting with the Senate President, Ahmed Lawal on Monday 22nd November, 2021 before it was presented on the floor of the Senate the following day where it passed the first reading.

Gagdi did not rest on his oars until he had the assurance of the Senate leader, who was a bosom friend of Gagdi's late father in-law, Alh Saleh Hassan, to facilitate the smooth endorsement of the Senate when it comes up for second reading and subsequent concurrence on the floor a week later.

This culminated in the bill passing the second reading and concurrence when it came up for consideration on the floor of the Senate today.

By this development, the Federal University of Education, Pankshin Establishment Bill, 2021 has become an Act of the National Assembly, awaiting presidential assent.

Two other bills sponsored by Rt Hon. Gagdi, which were earlier passed by the House of Representatives were also concurred by the Senate today, alongside the Federal University of Education Pankshin Establishment Bill. The bills are Hydrographic Bill and Maritime Trust Fund Bill.

A visibly elated Gagd said, with the passage of these bills by the Senate to become Acts of the National Assembly, pending Presidential assent, the coast is now clearer towards achieving one of his most cherished agenda in the National Assembly.

Gagdi promised to further explore all the connections in his arsenal to ensure Mr President signs the Federal University of Education Pankshin Establishment Act in no distant future, given its strategic importance in our national life, where raising the standard of education of Nigerian citizenry, through the production of highly trained and qualified teachers, is sacrosanct.

You will recall that, so far, the only private member bill in the 9th House of Representatives that passed all the rudiments of legislation and received presidential assent to become law, is the Police Act (amendment bill) that was sponsored by Rt Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi.

With the above fact in mind, the people of PKK are rest assured that bills sponsored by their representative are of strategic importance in our national lives to command presidential consideration without let or hindrance; hence this too shall receive presidential assent without much ado.

Signed

The event, which took place in a vibrant hall in Gora, began with a simple ball of yarn passed from hand to hand, weaving a visible web of connection among the 100 selected widows. These women shared the experience of losing their husbands to violent attacks. This was not a craft lesson, but the opening act of a profound tra...
