TALLEN SEEKS BALANCED REPORTAGE FROM PLATEAU PUBLISHERS
...URGES PLATEAU SOUTH TO MAKE HISTORY BY VOTING DADU'UT
The Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen has admonished Plateau Independent Newspapers Publishers to ensure they report actual events and not fake news.The ever hardworking Minister also canvassed support for the election of Professor Nora Dadu'ut at the Plateau South Senatorial bye-election to fill in the vacuum at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly created by the death of Senator Ignatius Longjan as well as making history for being the first Zone in the State that produced the first female Senator.
Tallen stated these while playing host to the EXCO and Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Plateau Publishers' Association (PPA) led by its new Chairman, Shabul Mazadu, Publisher of THE BEACON Newspaper on a courtesy call to the Minister at her Jos residence.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the PPA Chairman stated that the essence of their visit was to commend the Minister for exhibiting great patriotism in the discharge of her duties and her relentless efforts in the Fight for Women's Rights, Enthronement of Child Rights Act, War Against Rape and Domestic Violence Against Women and the Domestication of Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act.
Furthermore, PPA said her initiative of women empowerment, provision of palliatives, determination for the actualization of girl-child education and combativeness against early girl child marriage and many more are highly commendable.
PPA lauded the Minister for projecting the state in good light at the Federal level.
In her response, Tallen appreciated their visit and the role in disseminating information the PPA plays and called on them to do more.
The Minister reiterated the potentialities of women in nation building and the need for the men to cooperate with and encourage them, and not to see them as inferiors and objects of ridicule.
She pleaded with the men to avail one- third of the elective seats to women saying when women are given the opportunity to lead, they deploy all their knowledge, energy and time to produce great results.
Tallen solicited support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate ahead of the Plateau South Senatorial bye-election. According to her, Prof Nora Daduut possesses all that it takes to make great impact at the senate.
