MEMBERS OF RIGWE YOUTH MOVEMENT (IYM) ELECTS NEW OFFICIALS...

It was a beehive of activity today, Saturday October 10,2020 in Kwall district of Rigwe Chiefdom in Bassa LGA of Plateau State as illustrious sons and daughters of the nation under the umbrella of Irigwe Youth Movement (IYM) both at home and in diaspora conglomerated at Kwall Youth Development Association Hall to elect a new set of officials to pilot the affairs of the association for the next three years.



The election which commenced in the early hours saw electorate trooped the venue to exercise their franchise with hopes that their candidates would smile to victory. Minutes before the commencement of the election, agents of contestants, security personnel, observers alongside others were thoroughly brieved by the electoral committee chairman and secretary on the materials to be used and the need to maintain a holistic process which was well accepted by all.







In every exercise of this magnitude, challenges are inescapable but surmountable.Some pockets of constraints were encountered while the exercise was on but after a while,all were resolved and the process continued.



At past twelve noon,the election was over and sorting and counting began with all agents and other monitoring teams paying due concentration and attention.The sorting and counting were done in the presence and agreement of all accorded the responsibility to monitor the exercise. The chairman of the electoral committee,Mr.Friday Awu Kpengu without any modicum of delay made the announcement of the results, the copies of result sheets after the announcement were duly signed by all contestant agents signifying the acceptance of the process and the outcome.




In the words of the chairman,"The following contestants having fulfilled the requirement of law,IYM constitution and the 2020 electoral guidelines and scored the highest number of votes hereby declared winner and returned elected'

Worthy of note is that ninety-nine percent of the contestants were returned unopposed with the exception of the office of the vice president two which was keenly contested between two people with the result obtained as follows;

Lawrence Rotgak and Chinedu Ogodo both from Special Task Force(STF),Mr Amos Koggie of Youth Alternative Ministry and Rekwi Musa Odonko of the Visionary Pilots both from observation team applauded and commended the electoral committee for a wonderful exercise and all said they are happy to be part of this history making. "We are glad to be here and you guys did well and well done for standing your grounds irrespective of the hurdles" They added.

The election was conducted in full compliance of NCDC and PTF COVID-19 guidelines and protocols.
