CURFEW FIRST, HOODLUMS NEXT -GOV. LALONG

Governor Simon Lalong in North Central Plateau State has said he will call off the on going curfew imposed in the State as a result of the hoodlums who go about vandalising private and government properties, saying that the criminals have been identified and will be prosecuted.

“We will call off the curfew and go after the criminals. We have identified and made arrest of some of the hoodlums who go about vandalising warehouses, private and government properties. They must be prosecuted.

“It is not our intention to impose curfew, but we have to do it to stop further destruction of lives and properties”, he said.

Lalong stated this on Tuesday in the city capital of Jos while addressing stakeholders of the National Assembly who came to pledge solidarity with him on the current crisis of looting and vandalism in two Local Government areas of the State.

“Plateau is our own and we are not hungry. If Plateau is hungry we would have seen hoodlums in all the 17 local government areas. Why is it in only two local government that we are having issues.

“Is it because of EndSARS that people are burning houses, will it put an end to their hunger?” Lalong said.

The event, which took place in a vibrant hall in Gora, began with a simple ball of yarn passed from hand to hand, weaving a visible web of connection among the 100 selected widows. These women shared the experience of losing their husbands to violent attacks. This was not a craft lesson, but the opening act of a profound tra...
