Following the release of N50 million to Plateau State University, Bokkos by Plateau State Government as Covid 19 Response Funds, the management of the University has unveiled safety and protocol materials in a bid to guarantee the safety of staff, students and visitors to the University.
Unveiling the safety and protocol materials made up of a refurbished refuse collection vehicle, an incinerator, infrared forehead thermometers, touch free sanitizer dispensers, auto soap dispensers, wash hand basins and other safety facilities acquired by the COVID 19 Hygiene and Sanitation Committee, Professor Izam said with the COVID 19 pandemic ravaging nations, institutions and societies, the University needs to adapt to the new normal by adhering to all safety protocols preparatory to resumption by its students in due course.
Professor Izam directed the revitalization of the weekly sanitation exercise in the University earlier declared to hold on every Friday saying the University has declared a war against all forms of refuse on the campus and directed the works department and environment unit to ensure strict adherence to the directive.
While directing the proper branding of all materials purchased for the collection and disposal of waste, Professor Izam said henceforth cases of missing items as it used to be in the past will not be tolerated.
Speaking earlier, Chairman of the University COVID 19 Hygiene and Sanitation Committee, Professor Paul Wai said the procurement of the items is in line with the directives of both federal and state governments towards adequate preparations for the reopening of tertiary institutions.
He said the committee is also working to enforce the safety protocols in buses conveying staff to and from the university by maintaining social distancing, wearing of face masks and measuring of their body temperature before joining the bus to forestall incidences of the disease.
